Itinerary
• Drive south through the Judean Desert, passing by the Inn of the Good Samaritan and the point marking "sea level", with the ancient city of Jericho in the distance to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth at almost 1300 feet (400 meters) below sea level.
• Drive along the shores of the Dead Sea and ascend by cable car to Masada - Israel's foremost archaeological park, to understand why anybody would venture deep into the desert in order to build a magnificent fortress on a lifeless mountain top.
• Tour the fortified palace, the water cisterns, the bath-house and synagogue where the Romans, having triumphantly destroyed Jerusalem, sent an entire legion in order to deal with a small group of Zealots who made their last stand before committing mass suicide in 73 AD.
• Descend by cable car and reach the shore of the Dead Sea to enjoy the therapeutic qualities of the Dead Sea mud as well as the unique experience of floating on the rich mineral water of the sea itself.
• Return to pick up point at the end of the day.
